Sacred Liturgical Music
“Singing is for the one who loves.” - St. Augustine
Each year, the St. Romanos Choir sings the best sacred music from nearly every Christian century. The music of our liturgies draw from the Psalms (the prayers that Jesus prayed), texts from Sacred Scripture and the early Church Fathers, Gregorian chant from the early Middle Ages, polyphony from the Renaissance, classical composers such as Bach and Mozart, Nineteenth Century hymns, and modern choral compositions up to the present day. Our purpose is to sing the Liturgy and bring people to Jesus Christ.
“God dwells within each human person, in the place where music takes its source. A cry from deep within our being, music is a way for God to lead us to the realm of higher things.”
— United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Sing to the Lord: Music in Divine Worship
